SRISTI MoU with Chinese university - The Times of India

The method of documentation and promotion of innovations of the city-based Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI) will be replicated in China.

SRISTI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (TUFE) of China on Wednesday at Mumbai.

Following SRISTI's pattern of work in India, the students from over seven universities and 30 colleges in China will be motivated to scout grassroots innovations and traditional knowledge through the MoU. Tianjin University will also establish Innovation scholarship for students.

Through the MoU, SRISTI and TUFE will set up an international registry to provide recognition, respect and reward green grassroots innovations. TUFE and SRISTI will join hands to organize international conferences and also set up incubation, fabrication and design centers to promote cross-cultural innovations in both the countries. Incorporation of innovation in curriculum is another goal that both the institutions will pursue at respective ends.

The MoU was signed by the coordinator of SRISTI Anil Gupta and the president of TUFE, Prof Zhang Jiaxing. Gupta said, "The attempt will be to push the frontier of extreme affordability of goods and services to promote inclusive and harmonious development in both the countries."

The cooperation between TUFE and SRISTI has been going on for the last seven years and has set up a twin centre for grassroots innovation.
