The Indira Gandhi National Open University will offer programmes in warehousing, financial accounting and office management. The Open University’s Center for Corporate Education Training and Consultancy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Centre for Business Education’s (NCBE’s) National Collateral Management Services Ltd. (NCMSL) in this regard. According to the pact, PG Diploma in Warehousing, logistics and supply chain management; Diploma in Advanced Financial accounting and Taxation and a Certificate course in Office Management & HR will be offered to students. The pact was signed by the Registrar of the university Mr. U. S. Tolia and the Director of NCBE, Mr. Mukund S. Annigeri in the presence of Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, VC, IGNOU. “By identifying such capabilities outside the university we will be able to grow. We want to certify and provide education training and capacity building so that the learners can get a certification,” said Prof. Pillai, VC, IGNOU. “When we looked for people with required skills especially in the field of warehousing, logistics and supplying or even in the agriculture business we didn’t get them. A huge expertise in the skills sector is required to be bridged,” said Mr. Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director & CEO, NCMSL. “The employment opportunities of the learners will increase with this MoU as its objective is to make a commerce student job ready. They have academic knowledge but not experience. We have structured the courses to provide on-the-job-training to them,” said Mr. Annigeri.
