Deakin University announced a series of scholarship programmes for Indian students interested in research. The programmes, which include Five ‘on-Shore PhD scholarships’ of Rs 69 lakhs each, ten ‘Deakin India Research Initiative scholarships’ of Rs 48 lakh each (for students who want to study in India under the Deakin Research Initiative 2012), ten international bursaries of Rs 2,40,000 have been launched to attract top scoring Indian students to the university. Applications for the programme will close on August 31. In the city to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Symbiosis University Prof. Peter Hodgson, Director of Deakin University, Australia, said, “Our courses are designed to make the students job ready. The education system in Australia focuses on team work, problem-based learning, effective communication skills and global exposure.”
